The Riverina Association is a settlement formed in the Riverina region of New South Wales. It is one of many formed after World War III. The settlement is composed of several areas and facilities formerly used for agriculture. These include the Blacksoil Downs station and Rennie's Farm. These facilities are being repurposed for long-term settlement.
The Association holds around 500 people. Most are refugees from cities like Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. Although Australia was not targeted during the global nuclear exchange (except HMAS Sterling and Pine Gap), the collapse of the global economy and especially imports meant that these cities would run out of the resources necessary to sustain the population that inhabited them, pushing people to use the remaining petrol in their vehicles to flee to the agricultural regions. This particular series of farms and stations was close to a major causeway, leading many to settle down here.
